Money/Economy Guide.

Post: # 3411Post dekt »

First of all, let me steal a quote from Kampf here for a moment, before we begin:

A quick note about the economy plugin: When you first use the plugin please try and buy a pixelball or something with your starting money before you try to deposit anything, so that the plugin can set up all the data correctly. Use /money after the purchase to check whether it worked, after that you can deposit money and spend it however you want to.
If any of you lost anything due to this glitch please write a ticket, I'd like to collect information about it.

Have a nice day anyways, and happy banking!
Here on Toro League, we use two different forms of money. Physical and Credit. The physical (emeralds, nether quartz, nether stars which appear as coins, paper bills, and sacks of money respectively). And the credit system, which is introduced IC as a new credit/debit card technology. Therefore it's impossible to transfer money from one character's credit card to another. You must go to the bank and withdraw money from an account to pay another player, or to pay your rent for Cobalt or Aurelia.

To make the exchange, you will find banks in certain settlements. Most notably, in Aurelia.

On the left side you'll see the section for cash. Left clicking on any block with the floating entity above it will give you information about the shop. In this case, the three shops from the left will sell you physical currency for paying your rent and other players, taking the money from your virtual wallet.

On the right side you'll see the three shops for exchanging physical money to your virtual wallet. You will need a balance in your virtual wallet (you can check this by using the /money command to view your current balance) to purchase items from other shops found in the world.

It's a good rule of thumb to always punch (left click) any shop block before you make any transactions. Most shops will have signs stating the item and price, but these are not placed automatically by the economy or SCS plugins, and are subject to human error. So a sign that says it will sell you one apple for p30 may in fact be charging you p300 or more due to human error.

Left clicking one of these blocks will give you information about what you're buying or selling, how many you're buying at a time, and the price you'll pay or receive for selling the items in question.
Player Shops and Showcases.
This is part of the SCS (ShowCaseStandalone) plugin installed on our server. Issuing the command '/scs help' will run you through the basic commands associated with the plugin.

Players may set up shops on land where they have permission to build. If you only have permission from the land owner to build, make sure to consult with them IC about setting up any shops first. Personal shops should not be placed on government owned land in Aurelia or Cobalt without permission, such as if you work in an office at the police department or city hall. Please consult with a GM before setting up any shops in these locations. If it's within a settlement, please consult with the settlement's founder/leader beforehand.

With that out of the way, to set up a shop all you need to do is set down the block you want to act as the shop. This can be most blocks including tables from the furniture mod!

Hold the item you wish to sell and issue the command '/scs sell this <amount> <price>'.

Amount is the number of the item you want to sell in one transaction, and price is how much you want others to pay for your item. Leaving out the amount and price arguements will default your shop to selling the exact stack size you're holding at a price of p1, so be careful with this. After that, just right click and put the items you want to sell into the shop block's inventory.

Setting up a shop to buy items works in the same way, only instead of 'sell', you'll want to type 'buy'. '/scs buy this <amount> <price>'.

There are other commands in this plugin for administration of your newly made shop! You can change the owner of a shop to another player or give them permission to edit the shop while retaining ownership of it yourself, or adjust the price and amount of items sold or bought as well.

If you simply want to add some floating item displays for flavor, you can issue the command '/scs display this' while holding the item you want to display, and then right click on the block you want the item to be displayed on. This costs p100 for each display you want to create, however, the block will now act as a large storage case only for items of that type.

That's all for now. I'll need to update this short guide later with more information about managing separate bank accounts, but hopefully this will act as a good reference for how money in Toro works!
