Sneazy's Event Team application

Post: # 17119Post Sneazy »

Preferred Name: Sneazy

MC Username: Sneazy_Mc_Sneaze

Age:18

Time Zone: NZDT

Number of hours available: roughly 2-3hrs a day on weekdays, 5-6 on weekends.

How long you have been playing on Toro League: I started roughly two years ago, but I've only really been super active recently for the past five-ish months ago.

Why do you want to join Event Team?: Toro has been immensely enjoyable, and I want to give back to the community in the way I feel I can the best.

Do you have any past experiences of any similar positions?: I've done a LOT of DM'ing ttrpg's over the course of about 7 years. I've also ran some events on a smaller mcrp server, and a discord rp server.

What can you bring to this team?: I am a prolific writer, especially for TTRPG events, and enjoy trying to write a good story for people to enjoy. While my art and skinning are... lacking to an extent, I'm trying, and improving, and I'm a semi competent builder.
Examples: Here is a short 'house tour' of sorts

Have you ran or helped with any Toro events before?: I've currently run two mini-events, those being the 'Renland cart' event, where a group of people escorted a cart of valuable goods, and the Ryla Gogoat event, where a group of rangers went to observer a pack of Gogoat, and fought off an angry Druddigon

Have you helped with any other parts of the event process?: No, but I very much want to.

Are you capable of running or helping in events with a higher number of players?: I think my maximum is around.... 25? 30? I've run Discord RP events with easily over 60 people, but I think Minecraft rp lowers that a bit
Are you capable of running combat-oriented events?: I think I am capable.

Now, create an event and write at least a one paragraph summary. Then, complete the following questions:

The Adamas Hill Giant.

The people of Adamas have started reporting sightings of a mysterious Giant lurking in the mountains. It comes down in the night to steal food, and runs off into the mountains before dawn. The citizens of Adamas have put out a call for any able-bodied volunteers to get to the bottom of what's going on!

This event is pretty simple. It starts in Adamas, with the event attendees being led to the last sighted location of the 'Giant.' Some investigating would eventually uncover, oddly that not much food was stolen. Further investigation would reveal some footprints, leading up into the mountains. The group is urged to follow the footprints, assured that a search party would be sent out if they did not return by the evening. Following the trail through the forest soon leads to a first clue, a small campsite. An inspection of the campsite reveals that it belonged to a explorer who came to this region in search of new Pokémon. His journal mentions how he's going to go up and explore a cave tomorrow, and that he's excited to see what he will find. Soon after finding the Journal, the 'Giant' suddenly appears, revealing that it's actually an extremely oversized Golurk. It engages the team in a battle, though is seems more like it's trying to scare them off than actually hurt them. Depending if on they subdue or befriend the Golurk, things will change. Defeating the Golurk will cause it to retreat before being fainted, and the team will follow it, whereas, befriending it will cause it to lead the group to the next location. This will reveal the final set piece. The 'Giant' was just the partner Pokémon of the explorer, who was trapped an injured in a cave-in. The Golurk as been sneaking down to acquire food at night to help it's trainer. The group can then either work with the Golurk to help free it's trainer, or return to Adamas to get professional help.

(1) Describe any effects or props that would be needed and how to implement them.
For starters, we need the footprints, which can easily be done with chisels or just signs. The campsite is also easy, as 99% of what I need is standard. For the Journal, I can either use a book and quill, or just emote it. And finally, for the cave in, I can hopefully just make a small cave in creative mode.
(2) Write a basic outline for a character to be used in an event. Essentially, an actor should be able to read it and become the character you want them to.
Daryl Urmington:
A middle-aged Galarian explorer, Daryl is a usually chipper guy in a bad situation. He loves exploring the world alongside his longtime partner Titan the Golurk. He's trying to make the most of what's happening, but the reality of what happens if help doesn't come is slowly sinking in. He's relieved when rescue arrives, and is just happy to have a glimmer of hope in the last few hopeless days

(3) Create a list of ten emotes to be used in the event.

1: There appears to be a trail of large, circular indentations in the ground leading towards the mountains. If you didn't know any better, you'd say they were footprints

2: After several hours following the trail, you come across what looks like an old campsite. A long-extinguished fire stands near a small tent, and the remains of a picnic.

3: Inside the Tent, is a small, leather bound book. It looks kind of like a journal or notebook.

4:Opening the notebook, you see several pages of entries describing someone's journey around Toro. The most recent entry reads, 'I've made a camp in the woods near Adamas. Tomorrow, I will travel up into the mountains with Titan. I'm so excited to finally explore this amazing wilderness!"

5: The ground rumbles, as a series of huge footsteps grow closer and closer. Somethings coming. And it's big. A massive Golurk Barrels through the treeline. It takes one look at everyone, before roaring, flailing its arms wildly.

6: The Golurk Lets out a low groan, as a stream of sand a dust issues from the crack in it's chest. The sand quickly whips and whirls around, forming a Sandstorm!

7:If the Golurk is defeated The massive Pokemon retreats, running off back the way it came, up the mountain.

8:If the Golurk is calmed The pokemon stops, lowering it's guard. It turns, gesturing for you all to follow it, as it points back up the mountain

9:Continuation of 7. As you all make your way up the mountain, you see the weakened Golurk, huddled near a cave entrance. It turns, spotting you, and preparing to fight again, before a voice rings out. "Hey! Hey! Titan, back off! They're fine... I think." The Golurk moves aside, revealing a middle-aged man lying in the cave. His legs are buried in rubble, and he looks bruised and battered. He smiles from his position, looking up at you all. "Well... aren't you all a sight for sore eyes.... care to... lend a man a hand here?"

10:Continuation of 8. The Golurk leads you to the mouth of a small cave, the entrance caved in with rubble. A middle-aged man lies on his back, his legs buried up to the knees in the rubble. He looks up to you all, giving a relieved sigh "Well.... hey there... Looks like Titan finally got through to some folks... as you can see.. I'm.... in a bit of a pickle. Care to help?"

What is one weakness you have that might hinder your ability to work on this team?: I do have a tendency to make things up on the fly if stuff goes off the rails. I also have a weird complex about stuff I do where I overcompensate and overcomplicate things to try and appease everyone

Anything else we need to know: Nothing really!
