-Player Questions-
Minecraft Username: Campor

Discord Username: Campor#0954

Age:30 (I can't believe I was 21 when I first joined)

Pronouns (optional): He/Him

Where did you hear about us: I joined way back when after searching for Pixelmon roleplay servers, and got the itch again!

Tell us a little about yourself: This is always the hardest question on any application. My go-to is that I'm a nerd for a variety of reasons, and one of those reasons is I'm a big fan of RP in any medium I can find it. Whether it be RP in games like Minecraft or Project Zomboid, tabletop RPGs (PbtA represent), forum RP occasionally, etc. I love the telling of stories, whether I'm the one telling them or if I'm helping someone else tell their own. I enjoy playing support in general, no matter if that's in real life, a vidjagame, or in a narrative sense. Overall I just want everyone to have a great time.

-Roleplay Questions-
What is roleplaying?
Kind of self-explanatory, but it's playing a role. Acting and speaking in the way your character would, in this context to develop their story in the world they occupy alongside others.

What is meta-gaming?
Using knowledge that your character doesn't have to make decisions impacting the roleplay. For example, your character may not know your enemy has a hidden strength or power that you as the player know, yet you have your character as if they are aware and prepare for it to be used.

What is power-gaming / god-modding?
Dictating the actions of others in roleplay besides your own character. Your control ends where another player's character begins, and to state that another's character feels a certain way or performs a particular action without their input is a no-go.

What is retroactive continuity? (retcon):
The act of changing establish canon for whatever reason, usually in the case of RP for personal benefit (or fixing a previous error). An example might be that up to now your character had no relation to another, and trying to assert that in fact you were their long lost cousin's brother's roommate with no prior conversation or establishment of that fact.

What is the difference between in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC)?
IC is effectively what's happening from the perspective of the characters, OOC is what's happening in reality from the perspective of the players. IC, our characters are very real and events around them are equally real. OOC, our characters are products of our imagination and events are probably happening at dramatically appropriate moments that we dictate.

Do you have previous experience playing on a RP server? (This won’t affect your acceptance)
This one, for a while! But yes, plenty. Played Lord of the Craft for a while, and outside of Minecraft I've been roleplaying since about 2004 when I first joined the City of Heroes RP forum and found just about every roleplaying community on every multiplayer game I've found since.

-General Character Questions-
Full name: Juniper Stanton (They/them)

Age: 18

Appearance: Youthful and curious, blue hair messily contained under a constantly adjusted cap. Their green eyes are often glancing down at the ground, showing an abundance of caution. The rest of their clothes are functional if a little boring, khaki and brown with dashes of leather for exploring underbrush. A hardy net is strapped around their back, clearly designed to collapse and expand with a twist of the handle to get the ideal length for a given target. A dark satchel on their side contains all manner of helpful little tools, though it's the blue notebook that seems to get the most use given the state of it.

Personality: Juniper is generally quiet and considerate, taking time to think before responding and at that having quite short spoken ones. If anything they're more likely to sneakily dive into a book if eyes are taken off them, preferring the page over a rowdy conversation. The moment the topic shifts to their preferred Type of Pokemon though, their eyes light up and they can become noticeably more vocal. When it comes to interacting with Pokemon directly, Juniper leans toward being considerate of their personal space and tries to avoid frustrating them. Their relationship with their partner especially seems to be one of quiet mutual respect, and a hefty helping of personal space on both their parts.

Biography: Juniper grew up in a fairly small outcropping town in the Kalos region, a hop, skip and a jump away from a fairly dense forest. They spent a lot of time on the perimeter, finding it easier to get along with the local fauna than the kids at school. Each time they were discovered reading their books or speaking (quietly) out loud to the more amiable wandering Pokemon, they were mocked and driven deeper into the forest to find solace. It was here Juniper came upon a rather fuzzy and lonely worm-like creature edging its way out of sight of passing Weedles and Venipedes; What Juniper would come to know was a Larvesta. The two gradually opened up to one another, Juniper interested in learning about a Bug-type they had never seen and Larvesta grateful to have relatively quiet companionship. The pair ventured together, learned together, and eventually decided to get a fresh start somewhere new, less clogged with cities and more open to adventure. Toro seemed like just the place.

Flaws: Singularly focused on Bug-type Pokemon, lacking knowledge in most other areas if they're unrelated to Bug's strengths and weaknesses. Has a tendency to become quiet and drift off in larger crowds, making it difficult to keep them invested outside of small gatherings.

Ambitions: Learn all there is to know about Bug-type Pokemon, and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bug-type Pokemon are worthy of respect. Also maybe some peace and quiet out in the country would be nice too.

Starter Pokemon: Larvesta (Male, Timid)

-Open Response Questions-

_________________________________________________________________________________________
You find yourself standing in a bustling town. Suddenly, a small girl runs up to you, her eyes seeming to glisten with fresh tears as her bottom lip quivers. “Please!” She cries out to you, “You must help me! My poor Meowth is stuck in a tree!” She points to a nearby tree as more tears spill out of her eyes and down her cheeks. How does your character respond?

Juniper glanced up from their book at the sound, then almost popped back into the bench they were sitting on when they realized how close the girl was. Then, with a jittery and confused motion, glanced behind themselves only to realize the child was in fact calling out to them. They tried to muster up some excuse momentarily as to why they simply couldn't get involved with... Whatever was going on here, but the clear fear in the girl's eyes led to Juniper's response simply being a strangled breath and a slumped head before nodding.

Juniper made their way across the small field to the tree in question, frowning up just past the cap of their hat at the feline happily bathing itself on the branch. They were fairly certain the Meowth could come down whenever it damn well pleased, but the beginnings of this protest died on a glance at the girl's tear-filled face once more. The quiet bystander who had been enjoying a pleasant afternoon was halfway up the tree by the time the Meowth pounced to a lower branch, then to the ground with utter ease. The girl clapped happily, proceeding to chase the cat across the grass and yelling back thank-you's as Juniper plopped to the ground having done absolutely nothing to contribute to this series of events. The shade was nice though... They took a seat at the base of the tree, retrieving their book from their satchel and getting back to reading.

After arriving in Toro a cheerful woman walks up to you, a clipboard in her hand. “Hello and welcome to Toro! I would like to ask where you came from and why you came, as well as where you plan to go. All for for statistical reasons of course.” she asked with a bright smile as she held a pen to her clipboard. How does your character respond?

Juniper had intentionally been keeping their head down when they realized this woman was questioning people off the tram, doing their utmost best to avoid eye contact and slip through the crowd. Unfortunately, the evasive action itself seemed to draw the lady's attention and now they were trapped. At the (they assumed) census woman's questions, Juniper mulled over the questions and replied in a similar fashion, a steady stream of responses. "Kalos region. I came to learn about new Bug-types that weren't local to my region. I plan to go..." Their eyes darted around promptly, looking for signage or maps of any kind. In truth they didn't have a specific destination in mind, drifting on the breeze like a Butterfree had been their goal... But actually saying that sounded a bit too Kalos-y for their taste. "...on an adventure."

That wasn't much better.

Nonetheless, this seemed to satisfy the woman who scribbled down Juniper's lackluster data. She then went on to suggest local sights and cities absolutely worth visiting, only to realize the odd foreigner had ducked out of sight the moment she turned to indicate a nearby museum.

You are walking along the road when your eyes lock onto a trainer's in the distance. At that moment, you both freeze in place. You see a glimmer in the trainer's eyes as he reaches for his Pokeball. "Go, Rattata! Show this chump what we've been training for!" the trainer shouts as he swiftly releases his chosen partner in the vacant space that separates the two of you. How does your character respond?

The sound that emitted from Juniper was somewhere between a groan and a self-oriented grumble. Never make eye contact, they thought to themselves. You know that. Why'd you even look. You could tell what he wanted. Of course the trainer couldn't hear this, his grin not faltering though his eyes darted around and eyebrows knitted together in confusion as Juniper finally finished the frustrated tone. "...Fine."

Juniper took up the net on their back, causing further confusion in the opposing trainer's face before twisting the head and a whirring of gears preceded a Pokeball rolling out of the shaft into the net. Then with surprising dexterity, they twirled the net like a staff and swung upward, launching the ball into the air. It cracked open, shooting forth an energy beam to the ground which formed up into the Bug specialist's fuzzy companion.

"Hah!" The trainer with the Rattata rubbed his nose with his thumb, more than prepared for victory. "What's that, a Bug-type?! Don'tcha know that's the weakest kind there is! Rattata, show 'em! Hit them with a Bite!" The rodent Pokemon lunged forward, buck-tooth fangs bared. It clamped down... On nothing. Light embers remained where Larvesta had been sitting, both Rattata and its owner looking around for a moment before glancing up into the air. Larvesta had propelled itself up on flame gouts, and from underneath the fur looked quite grumpy at being involved in this at all. The trainer gulped. Juniper slipped their hands into their pockets, shrugging.

"Flame Charge."

Gravity and flame jets combined into a very unfortunate Rattata.
