Geography:
Tiānguó rests in the mountains north of Kanto with their capital lying near the Yǒngshēng River. Due to the mountainous region, many of the more rural villages scattered through the northern provinces must construct terraces in order to plant and harvest their main produce, rice. While rice may be their main produce they are able to master other crops that grow well in the mountains, and after years of cultivation in the mountains the locals have turned a once barren mountain range into a lush and growing sea of life. One of the most noticeable features of the region is Shèng diàn Mountain which is said to be the largest mountain on earth. Many foreigners and expert climbers try to scale the large summit yet many fail and perish. Old folk tales say that uptop the mountain is a temple where inside the Tao Trio rests, eternally slumbering.

Shoudu is the capital of Tianguo and also the largest city. It is the main trading city and houses many aristocratic families in its center. Shangdu, along with Kunmin, is a hotbed of Triad activity. Kunmin is the tourist spot of the region. The Shengdian Mounntain is its main attraction, but isn’t the only reason people travel to Tianguo. Kunmin hosts a variety of tourist activities that focus on integrating oneself with nature. Kunmin also holds a large market dedicated to selling trinkets and other locally made goods to tourists.

History:
The Tiānguó region is relatively new compared to many older and more established regions. The Tiānguó Region was established when the more traditional Kantonese people fled the region in hopes to find a more peaceful land to live in when the Johto-Kanto War begun. As the war raged on they began to disperse north and far into the mountains ranges above Pewter City. For many the path to a new homeland was hard and nights cold. They knew when to stop after their leader had a dream that Zekrom and Reshiram once fought upon the land that they are sleeping on. Once established in the mountains, the new inhabitants began writing a code of conduct and agreement to forever establish peace within the mountains they now believed to be sacred and worship the Tao Trio that gave them a sign.

Culture:
Tiānguó people believe in a more traditional way of life that follows the style of Kantonese beliefs before the modernization that occurred around the Johto-Kanto War. They live their lives in harmony with nature and believe in the concept of Ying and Yang, Karma, and other various beliefs. (Many of these will fall in line with the IRL equivalent of Taoism.)

The arts such as pottery, sculpting, poetry, and music flourished due to the peace and extravagant nature of many aristocratic families. Silk production was also a big part of Tianguo culture. While in the countryside nature is all around, in the busy capital aristocrats would own large gardens to be able to connect with the natural world. Aristocratic families would often have many servants working for them. While Tianguo was very peaceful region, archery was often practiced as a sport and those who could afford a rapidash would practice horseback archery. It is believed that one needs to have a balance of Ying and Yang in his or her body to be able to perform archery while riding a rapidash. Thus martial arts is often seen as a way to balance the ying and yang in the body. Most people see martial arts as a way to relax and obtain balance than a way of fighting. Food is also important as a healthy diet means that one’s ying and yang will be balanced. Unhealthy food will lead to instability and sickness. The education system was mostly restricted to those with enough money, but it offered a way for people to climb up the social ladder. Education, mostly due to Tianguo’s isolation and is focused more on the humanities and the arts. While polygamy is common in the aristocracy, it was not the case for most outside of the aristocracy.

A large percentage of the population lives in rural towns in the mountains close to some source of water and these are the homes to farmers of rice paddies and potters. The mountains, other than housing rice paddies, are also rich in jade. However, looking for good jade is sort of like trying to win the lottery. Widowed women often went into the silk production business. Silcoon and Cascoon are the two main sources of silk and are still used in production today.

In the shadows of society lies the Tianguo Triads. Due to the country being largely cut off from the rest of the world, Triads have thrived. They are closely embedded in the politics of the region. Initiation usually starts at a young age and family bonds are very important. However, not everyone part of a triad is engaged in illegal activities. The part of the triad that does engage in illegal activities usually deal in counterfeits, protection racketeering, drug trafficking, and blackmail.

Fashion plays a large part in the lifestyle of upper class aristocrats. When the country was first founded showy clothes were looked down on, but influence from other countries changed that. Upper class women tend to wear qipao or hanfu dresses. The men either wear traditional robes, changshan or western suits.

Dragon type pixelmon are highly prized in Tianguo as there are many legends surrounding them. One popular legend tells the tale of how magikarps obtained the ability to evolve. A school of magikarp swimming up the Yongshang river. After swimming tirelessly for one hundred years until a single, golden, magikarp finally reached the top. Reshiram and Zekrom awarded the magikarp with the gift of evolution. The golden magikarp became the first Gyarados, a pseudo-dragon type, and the Lord of the Gyarados and Magikarps. Dragon type pixelmon are also seen as the strongest type.

Economy:
The Tiānguó Region is very reclusive due to their location, however, their economy is more based off a trade and barter system that would be seen in more traditional regions. They do however often trade with Kanto as it is one of their main bordering regions, with Johto also being near. However due to old grudges and beliefs that the Johto people begun the Johto-Kanto war, many Tiānguó people have an unspoken grudge towards Johto citizens.

One of the main reasons of why Tianguo is so traditional is because they look unfavorably at factories and any large production. Pollution caused by factories ruin the nature that the people of Tianguo value so much. Since there is virtually no mass production in Tianguo all of its exports are luxury handmade goods. Another reason is due to the Triad presence. Triads thrive partly because of the cut off nature of the country, so they wish to keep the country cut off.
